Pencil sketches (digitized version only) of doorway of St. Paul's Wesleyan Methodist Chapel and the beach by the depositor's great uncle, Charles Percy Shelley. CPS was a brass-foundry manager in Birmingham but also a gifted artist, engraver, poet and writer for Birmingham Central Literary Magazine. The depositor allowed us to take copies of the images, the former of which we identified as a doorway to St Paul's Wesleyan Chapel (demolished 1992)

Aberystwyth Yesterday collection.
The late Margaret Evans' JP collection of Aberystwyth and other memorabilia used to be housed in Aberystwyth railway station building. After Mrs. Evans' death it was deposited at Ceredigion Museum. Part of the collection was exhibited there, the remainder was in storage.
Recently the collection's ownership was settled. The items were sorted and the papers were passed to Ceredigion Archives. The Museum kept the artefacts (costume, implements etc.).
The papers can be divided into two very broad categories: 1. Documents relating to the Aberystwyth Yesterday collection and exhibition (correspondence, accession books, visitor books etc.) and 2. the collection itself (postcards, photographs, diaries, letters, magazines, books, sewing and knitting patterns, sheet music, various ephemera), not all related to Aberystwyth or indeed Wales.

35mm slides, many are copies of old photographs and paintings, some relating to the "Exhibition of paintings of sailing Ships and Ships Equipment" staged in Aberaeron in 1971. A copy of the catalogue is also included.

Contents of Glanhelyg tin trunk.
The Pigeonsford Collection comprises estate and family papers deposited at Ceredigion Archives in a metal trunk in 2004. The collection is chiefly made up of documents pertaining to the administration of the estate and the affairs of the Price-Bowen-Jordan families. Additional material relates to the genealogical research and letters of Evelyn Hope, who was largely responsible for the present structure and taxonomy of the collection.

It appears that IJ Luke and the Howells firm of solicitors were in some kind of partnership. There were other lawyers in the Howells family: William John Howells and Peter Howells in particular.

Letter from Fred Blight, Eiddwen, Tregaron to a friend "Bob" (Ref: ADX/1736)
Letter on various subjects . Refers to Queen Elizabeth as "that horse mad young woman", discusses the death of three ex-colleagues, the possible unhealthiness of Tregaron, an anecdote about another acquaintance who died rather than be evicted from his abode at Falcondale, a collection of prints and his own decline and anticipated demise.
This letter appears to be by Frederick M.S. Blight whose death is registered in Carmarthen in the June Quarter of 1963 aged 88 The 1939 Register reveals Mr Blight as a retired Civil Servant and Post Office worker which may explain his anticipated delight in annoying the Head Postmaster at Aberystwyth over the closure of Tregaron P.O. on the day he expected to pick up his pension. The Michell family (Ref: ADX/1022)

The Michell family originated from Devon and Cornwall. They were always associated with mining and engineering. All the Ceredigion Michells descend from one couple, William and Rebecca Michell, who arrived in Cardiganshire c. 1845. This collection has been deposited by a descendant, who provided the descriptions (list in box).
Also CD of digital scans of Dorothy Michell's (nee Williams) autograph book. Her father was an elder of Ponterwyd chapel and the book was signed by various visiting ministers and students of Theological College in Aberystwyth.
Also a note from the depositor on her great aunt, Beatrice Sarah Michell (1881-1941)
