Welcome to the Record Office

Please note that we will be CLOSED on the morning of Tuesday 16 April. We will reopen from 2pm. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Ceredigion Archives is the record office for the county formerly known as Cardiganshire or (in Welsh) Sir Aberteifi. We are part of Ceredigion County Council.

We collect and preserve documents about the history of Cardiganshire and make them available for research.

The searchroom

Everyone is welcome to come to the Archives to do research - on family history, local history, old vehicle registrations, and many other subjects. We're here for personal research, for school projects, university degree work, academic research, and research for business purposes.

Staff at the Archives can suggest appropriate lines of research, and guide you in the use of the documents.
