ADX/1782. Wedding party of Thomas H. Yerbury and Annie C. Rowlands, Aberystwyth 1942

Tommy Yerbury is wearing a Royal Artillery Service tunic: ‘flaming bombs’ on the collar, white lanyard over right shoulder. The rank is a ‘Lance Bombardier’.

The couple and some of the others in the photograph were identified with the help of the Aberystwyth community on Facebook. We are very grateful for their assistance.

The bride is Annie Rowlands, and the groom is Mr Tommy Yerbury. The lady on the right of the bride is her sister Lena who married George Wyatt [Margaret H Rowlands x George L Wyatt, married in the Jun quarter, 1943]. The lady on the right is my grandmother Sarah Rowlands who lived in Trefechan Aberystwyth. My Mum is on the second row, left in the picture. Mrs Dora Fraser who was married to Joe Fraser [in December quarter 1950, Deborah Rowlands x Joseph H Fraser]. (contributed by J. Sadler)

This is a picture of my [maternal] grandmother and grandfather Annie and Tommy. It’s also lovely to see my great grandmother Sarah Rowlands [...] on the far right in the front row (contribured by S. Thomas)

[back row on left] My dad is the spitting image of the man in the centre so I guess that’s my grandad, David Edward Rowlands who died before I was born. (contributed by P. Rowlands)

I worked with Tom Yerbury in the labs in Trawscoed, it was the ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food in those days. He was such a lovely man, but had a dreadful cough and bad chest from his time during the war. (contributed by J. Morgan)
