The papers were extracted from a box of loose papers collected from the floor of a storeroom at Roberts & Evans (Box 101/1); some papers relating to public offices may well remain among the rump of 101/1 loose papers (see CG 3/10).

Two poll books (with 1844 and 1845 watermarks) for an election between Phillips, Jones and Nugent in the parishes Cardigan St Marys, Llangoedmor, Llechryd, Llandygwydd, Y Ferwig, Y Mwnt, Tre-main, Aber-porth, Blaen-porth, Troedyraur, Llandyfrïog (Vol i); Bron-gwyn, Betws Ifan, Penbryn, Llangrannog, Llandysiliogogo, Llangynllo, Llanllwchaearn, Llanfair Treflygen, Henllan, Llanfairorllwyn, Bangor and Llandysul Iscerdyn (vol. ii).
The books contain names numbered to 214 and 128 respectively, and are signed respectively by William J. Jones and John Davies, Poll Clerks, 9 February 1847.
The result of the poll, noted in Vol. i, was Phillips (238), Jones (0), Nugent (108).
