Cloth-bound book belonging to Lewis Davies of Cardigan, inscribed 'Navigation and Nautical Astronomy. Began this Copy October 12th 1834'.
Contains sections on (inter alia):

- Middle Latitude Sailing
- Oblique Sailing
- Current Sailing
- To find the time of high water at any Place on any given day of the Moon's Age
- To Find the Latitude by A Meridian Altitude of a Star
- To find the Variation of the Compass by An Azimuth
- On Finding the Longitude By Lunar Observations
and other subjects. The main section ends with a Journal of a voyage from England to Madeira in the ship Britannia in 1854. With diagrams and watercolour illustrations. Some water damage, also damage to spine.
