Ref: ABF ABERFFRWD British, Board, later Council, SchoolUntil 1900 the school was situated at nearby Llwynygroes. The earliest log book of the school states that "Llwynygroes British School was opened 21st January 1861 by John Roberts from Bangor Training School" (entry for 1 July 1863).
A new school was opened at Aberffrwd on 3 April 1900 (see school log). The 1905 report states that Aberffrwd, a provided, mixed school, was erected in 1900. There was accommodation for 60. In 1904 there were 42 on the books and average attendance was 26.
The school closed in 1959. The building is now in domestic use.
