Scope and Content: Noteboooks and diaries of David Lloyd Richards of Belle Vue, Llan-non.
According to the depositor, the diaries were given to the depositor's father by David Richards in the early 1960s because 'he said that he didn't want the rest of the family to see them'.

1. Notebook from his time in the army from c. 1918. He was Private 5151 in the 9th Company of Royal Marine Engineers, and was stationed in Southwick, Essex. The notebook begins with notes on explosives and demolition, with instructions on setting explosives to destroy different types of structures incl. railways, bridges etc. Later notes are a miscellany, in both Welsh and English, of religious texts and poems, English/French/Italian vocabulary, tallies of working hours aboard ship and elsewhere, names and addresses, and other notes.

2. Notebook containing notes on hours worked and forms filled for 'Unemployment Benefit, Aberystwyth' and voyages as ship's crew (including to the Americas and to New Zealand), as well as religious writings, names and addresses, a local bus timetable, newspaper cuttings etc.
1939-1932 approx.

3. Diary for 1935 with entries detailing day-to-day activities. With some entries for 1936.
