Animal Call Words : A study of human migration by David Thomas OBE.
Volume XIV of the Transactions of the Cardiganshire Antiquarian Society, published 1939. The book suggests that early human migration may be in some part charted by the counting systems and call words used in animal management.

Article from Country Quest magazine (1966): 'Counting Sheep' by David Gunston. Also letter (in a subsequent edition) from John T. Jones of Tabernacle Terrace, Carmarthen regarding a West Carmarthenshire method of counting used in his family. John T. Jones was the last physician superintendent of Llanybydder Sanatorium for the treatment of tuberculosis.
