Small black book contained within a black holder issued by the Independent Order of Rechabites, a fraternal organization and friendly society that promoted abstinence from alcohol and became a financial institution. Branches could be referred to as a ‘tent’, with this book being part of the ‘Ystwyth Tent’, instituted on 27 January 1883. This book belonged to John James and contains notes of monetary contributions that were made.
