Visiting the Archives

There is a warm welcome for everyone in Ceredigion Archives. Whatever your interests and field of study - on family history, local history, school projects, old vehicle registration and many other subjects, come and see what we have to help you.

Gall Staff yr Archifdy awgrymu cyfeiriadau priodol i'ch gwaith ymchwil, a rhoi arweiniad i chi ynghylch defnyddio dogfennau.

Staff at the Archives can suggest appropriate lines of research, and guide you in the use of the documents.

Lleoliad

Mae'r Archifdy wedi ei leoli yn swyddfeydd Cyngor Sir Ceredigion (yr hen Queen's Hotel) bron ym mhen draw y rhan ogleddol o lan môr Aberystwyth, tua pum munud o waith cerdded o'r pier, a thua deng munud o orsafoedd y bws a'r trên. Mae lle i barcio am ddim ar strydoedd y dref ac wrth lan y môr ond cofiwch, os gwelwch yn dda, bod Aberystwyth yn gallu bod yn brysur iawn adeg y gwyliau. Mae sawl maes parcio talu-ac-arddangos yn y dref.

Location

The Archives are situated in the offices of Cyngor Sir Ceredigion (the former Queen's Hotel), towards the northern end of the sea-front in Aberystwyth, about five minutes walk from the pier, and about ten minutes from the railway and bus stations. There is free on-street parking in town and on the sea-front, but please remember Aberystwyth can be very busy in the holiday season. There are also several pay-and-display carparks in the town.

Pan ddaw hi'n amser cinio (neu os bydd paned o goffi'n ormod o demtasiwn) ewch am dipyn o awyr iach ar hyd y prom i Ffordd y Môr, lle mae dewis o fannau bwyta. Mae llond lle o gaffis a thai bwyta yn Aberystwyth. Rydym yn siŵr y dewch chi o hyd i rywle fydd wrth eich bodd!

Facilities

Wheelchairs: the Archives are accessible to people in wheelchairs.

Food and Drink: eating and drinking are not allowed in the Searchroom. When lunchtime comes ( or a cup of coffee becomes irrestible ) have a bracing walk along the prom to Terrace Road, where there are a selection of eating places. Aberystwyth is full of cafes and restaurants. We're sure you'll find somewhere you'll like!

Rules for Readers

Pencils only.
No food or drink (including sweets) to be consumed in the searchroom.
No bags on tables in the searchroom.
Do not lean on documents, and avoid unnecessary handling of documents
Photocopying at the discretion of the Archivist (no more than 20 per person per day).
Photography at the discretion of the Archivist.
No more than four documents per person at any one time.
